Does anyone know how to supply a subject to a mail message from the command line in AIX?

I have tried the -s option with both mail and mailx and get the following results:

/u/mhallman/billing/analysis> mail -s"New Report" mhallman < report.txt
The flags you gave make no sense since you're not sending mail.
/u/mhallman/billing/analysis>

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

The switches for mail expect a space before the arguement.

Change 'mail -s"New Report" mhallman < report.txt' to:
'mail -s "New Report" mhallman < report.txt'

mail -s "New Report" mhallman < report.txt

Hi Mark,

You need the following syntax: /bin/mail -s 'New Report' mhallman < report.txt

Hope this helps!
