Can someone tell me how to disable a user id on AIX? On other UNIX
platforms I can do it with "passwd -l", but looking at the man pages on
AIX there is no -l switch.
Thanks in advance,
Hasan

smitty user
Or to dev-null him or her :
smitty rmuser
To lock an individual user account use the following syntax:
chuser account_locked=false <userid>
The nice thing about AIX is you can lock the user's account, but not remove
the password information. So, if you have someone who you wish to allow
access to your system, you can create an account and then enable and disable
the account as you wish. When I create new users, I always lock their
accounts until I am certain they are ready to login for the first time. That
way I can set a deafult password for them, but that account with the default
password is not available for use until I decide to unlock it.

Jazz, you big dough-head!
Try this instead:
chuser account_locked=true <userid>
The first example unlocks an account. Time for some coffee.

Hello Hasan,
here is a third suggestion:
chuser account_locked=true username
