Anyway, I was installing Websphere 7.0 and it told me i needed AIX
5300-07-01-0748 (TL7 SP1) and told me i had 5.3.0,0 installed.
Thing is it should have been 5.3 ML4.
Anyways, i installed the TL7 and also downloaded the SP1 for it.
Everything updated fine (about 450 items i think). however i currently
cantt update to SP1 as it says there is nothing in the folder to
update. I am using smit to do the updates.
Here is the various oslevel outputs:
bash-3.00# oslevel
5.3.0.0
bash-3.00# oslevel -r
5300-04
bash-3.00# oslevel -g
Fileset Actual Level
Maintenance Level
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
bos.rte 5.3.7.0 5.3.0.0
bash-3.00# oslevel -s
5300-04-CSP-0000
Run 'oslevel -qs' to ensure the system knows about all the SPs. If
5300-07-01-0748 shows up, then run 'oslevel -l 5300-07-01-0748'. There
is probably some fileset holding you back that wasn't included in your
download. Update that fileset, and the oslevel should come up.
The man page can be your friend. The correct syntax (derived from the
man page) is 'oslevel -s -l 5300-07-01-0748'.
However when i run:
bash-3.00# oslevel -s -l 5300-07-01-0748
bash-3.00#
So that is telling me there are no packages of an earlier level
correct?
That is correct. I would recommend 'smitty suma', "Download Updates Now
(Easy)", Download ML or TL, and F4 (or ESC-4) to pick the correct TL.
That may fix it.
