SUP'EUR 94, Amsterdam
October 3-5, 1994
---------------------
Location and date of meeting
----------------------------
The sixth annual meeting of Sup'Eur will be held in Amsterdam, The
Netherlands, during October 2-5, 1994. The meeting will be organised by
SARA, the Dutch National Supercomputer Centre. The Meeting will take place
at the Free University.
The Sup'Eur Organisation
------------------------
The Sup'Eur organisation is an association of European academic and
research institutions which are actively engaged in high-performance
computing on IBM systems, including vector and parallel computers,
workstation clusters and visualisation systems. Sup'Eur organises an annual
conference covering these and related topics in order to provide an open
forum for the European large scale and high-performance computing user
community for the exchange of information and experiences, and to provide
feedback to IBM product development concerning strategic directions and
requirements in high-performance computing.
Previous Sup'Eur meetings have been held in Geneva (1989), Aachen (1990),
Rome (1991), Umea (1992) and Vienna (1993). In order to establish as wide
an international community of academic supercomputer users as possible,
Sup'Eur and its counterpart Super! in the USA co-operate in all areas of
mutual interest.
The local organisation will be done by SARA (a Dutch acronym for "Academic
Computing Services Amsterdam"), the Dutch National Supercomputer Centre, in
collaboration with ESTEC, the European Space Research and Technology Centre
in Noordwijk, The Netherlands.
The Sup'Eur conference in Amsterdam will be organised jointly with the
second meeting of the IBM European parallel Computing COnsortium (ECCO).
The annual ECCO Achievement Awards will also be presented at this
conference.
Who should attend
-----------------
The Sup'Eur 94 meeting in Amsterdam welcomes current and future users of
high-performance computers in academia and industry as well as
representatives of computer centres providing supercomputing services. The
meeting is particularly intended to address problems and needs of
high-performance computing on IBM machines, offers up-to-date information
on IBM's products and plans in high-performance computing, and serves as a
forum of discussion and information exchange with leading supercomputing
experts and IBM product developers from Europe and USA.
For participants with little or no previous experience in supercomputing, a
tutorial sessions is provided on October 2.
Main topics of meeting
----------------------
Sup'Eur 94 will focus on the following topics:
- Supercomputing strategies
- IBM products and trends in high-performance computing
- Parallel and distributed computing
- Workstation clustering
- Visualisation
- Environments, tools and languages
- Performance evaluation and optimisation
