Help!,

I'm having problems with all printer queues on a machine. I stopping
and starting the qdaemon could solve the problem. I've tried 'stopsrc -
s qdaemon' but this only reports that the qdaemon is stopping :

# stopsrc -s qdaemon
0513-006 The Subsystem, qdaemon, is currently stopping its execution.
#

Can I simply kill the process for the daemon without any damage to the
entries in the queues?

I do so fairly regularly (kill the process) and have never had any ill-
effects.

Same here. However, it can be noted that you can kill the process
without leaving the subsystem command set by specifying the -c
option. "stopsrc -cs qdaemon" I've never seen this fail to bring
down qdaemon instantly.

You could, or you could: stopsrc -cs qdaemon
The -c is probably what you're missing.

Well did you check how many instances of qdaemons are running?
Some time a ghost qdaemon also starts running, that causes problem in printer
queues.

*** you could do that in AIX V3. I can't do that in V4.
