we are using Axis print server boxes.

If I add the Q, and setup the IP address,
but NOT have it plugged in and working...

then when I use the LPSTAT command,
it hangs waiting for a response from the remote server,
that is not plugged in ...

Is there anything I can do with the commands ?
I mean, what happens when one of the servers goes offline
and the LPSTAT command becomes useless ??

just as a followup -
our LPSTAT hangs waiting for the remote server response
time is about 90secs

I wonder where it is picking up this value ??
I even tried it on the command line -

REMBAK -Smilw -Ppr5 -L -T0

and it still was in a timeout state..

oh well - just have to tell the OPS
to wait for 90 secs -

Instead of lpstat try enq -isA
This checks just the status of the local side without ever
trying to contact the remote server.

I'm stuck (no pun)
If I use LPSTAT, it hangs for 90secs looking for a response...
If I use ENQ, it does not let me see that the remote server is down...
I wish that the LPSTAT (or ENQ for that matter)
would allow a T setting for a quick timeout of say 10secs..
why would you wait for 90secs ??
