I'm hoping to find someone who has used a tape drive on a unix server to back
up their PC or Macintosh to. We have a DEC alpha here with a tape drive and
can of course back up files using rdump, but is there an rdump client for
the PC or Mac?

There are other options, of course - making the Mac or PC an NFS server,
mounting their drive and backing it up that way. With the Mac (I think)
I could set up CAP, mount their drive over Appletalk, and back that up.
(Wow, that sounds iffy.)

Hoping to hear if others have solutions, either commercial, public domain,
or homebrew...

I have a version of GNUtar for dos that will talk to a unix machine via rsh
(either direction) or use local scsi tapes.
