Does anyone know of a du-like utility or has anyone modified du
to exclude certain directories? I have a NFS fileserver which
creates live backups in a .snapshot dir for each directory on the
NFS server. I'd like to get du reports which exclude these .snapshot
dirs. Does anyone know of such a utility?

Thanks!
-Jeff

Your mileage may vary:

DU(1) FreeBSD General Commands Manual

NAME
du - display disk usage statistics

SYNOPSIS
du [-H | -L | -P] [-a | -s | -d depth] [-x] [file ...]

[munch]

-x Filesystem mount points are not traversed.

It may not be what you had in mind but what about piping du through grep -v?

du / | grep -v "^\./filesystem/.snapshot"
