Hi,
I recently setup an HP5 printer that was modified by Troy to print MICR
laser checks. I connected this printer to our lan with a HP jetdirect
card. We are trying to print to this printer from a DG/UX 4.11MU04
box. The problem were having is that if we spool a single job like a
banner page, it prints fine, but if we spool several jobs at once, the
first job prints completely, the other never print. Running an lpstat
-o all command shows all jobs including the one that has printed as
being queued still. I attempted to setup a workaround for this by
printing to the printer through a queue setup on our Solaris 2.5.1
machines. If I print directly from the Solaris box I don't have any
problems. When I pointed the queue from the DG to the Solaris machine
and out to the printer I got all of the spooled jobs. running an lpstat
-o all command on the Solaris box, I see nothing queued for this printer
there. However if I run the same command on the DG box I still see all
4 jobs that were spooled even though they have all printed through the
Solaris box. I am in dire need of this printer by this Thursday 9/25,
and all efforts I have made to correct the problem have not worked. The
printer was setup as follows on the DG and Solaris box's. 'lpadmin -p
printername -s printername\!text' , accept printername, enable
printername. This works for all other network printers on the DG without
a problem. Any help anyone could give me on this would be appreciated.

Thx,
Harry

What means /usr/sadm/sysadm/bin/admlp -o list -b printername ???

The configuration with lpadmin make problems from time to time. Try it
with sysadm.

I hit this problem on 3.10. It is due to different interpretations
of the RFC.

You will find that the JetDirect LPR requires that there be
two files with each job, a control file and a data file.

When DG/UX sends multiple jobs, it sends one control file
and multiple data files. System breaks.

Submit each file individually rather than as one command
and the problem will go away.

Using "lp -dJetDirect filea fileb filec" will not work.
You must "lp -JetDirect filea
lp -JetDirect fileb
lp -JetDirect filec" that will work.

If it *is* the same problem of course....
