Note that many distributed packages may require an ANSI C compiler,
which is an optional product under HP-UX; the compiler which does
kernel rebuilds is a no-frills K&R which may not work for some
packages. There is version of the GNU C compiler available at
ftp sites listed in the FAQ (see below).
The Liverpool HP-UX ftp archive, which is mirrored at the above U.S.
site, is also mirrored in France, Germany, and Italy, all of which
may be more effective than a transatlantic site (requestor in Sweden).
The Liverpool archive *assumes* the ANSI C compiler, not the K&R.
hpux.csc.liv.ac.uk is the "home" site; the mirrors and other sites are
listed in the FAQ, which can be found via:
