You know, I think it used to be a standing principle of computer science that it was one thing (maybe *the only thing*, even)
where Christian scripture didn't come into it...

Hah! You are soooo mistaken.

Are you familiar with the expression "code is data - data is code" a.k.a homoiconicity ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homoiconicity ).
What is its relationship to scripture you say?

Well, where else have you heard about things being made in one's own image? Man in the image of God. Data in the image of the Code.

And if you think that's a stretch... John 1:1: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Code is data. Data is code.
God is the Word. The Word is God.

God is all-powerful. The Word is God - therefore The Word is all-powerful. Is it just me; or are they both alluding to something like the expressive power of language?

A bit like the sort of stuff computer scientists talk about: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Expressive_power_(computer_science)

And if he did, so what? The Ancient Greek version actually uses the word " λόγος" ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Logos ) which actually translates to reason/discourse/logic or something thereabout.

So... In the beginning was Logic/Reason and Logic/Reason was God. So logicians and computer scientists are still on home turf, and then there's still the holy trinity!

"The central dogma of computational trinitarianism holds that Logic, Languages, and Categories are but three manifestations of one divine notion of computation. There is no preferred route to enlightenment: each aspect provides insights that comprise the experience of computation in our lives." --Robert Harper

The real, original thinking was: "Of course that must be garbage. I would know that as well as anyone."
