In Conway's life there is a configuration known as "R pentomino" that
takes 1103 generations to stabilize, and releases 6 gliders (so it
technically never stabilizes), all I know is it is a contiguous
arrangemnet of 5 cells (hence the "pentomino") shaped vaugely like an "R"
