How much work is it to assemble a new math font? The font would use
Sabon for "ordinary" characters, Sabon Greek for greek characters, and
math Times for other symbols. If I haven't missed something important,
I think those are my requirements.
So the glyphs are all there, I just need to find a way to assemble them
into one font package. I haven't been able to find any info on the web
on how to do this, only how to install a new postscript font for use in
the text. Does anyone here know how that can be done?
I'm sorry: this *isn't* a helpful reply to your query! But I did look a
bit into this when writing my last book.
History: before becoming a LaTeX convert, I was an enthusiast for
FrameMaker, which Adobe haven't supported under Mac OSX. And my
previous book was typeset in Sabon for the text font. But to get a
matching sans-serif font for some symbol use I had to devise a version
of Minion using the Minion Multiple Master font to construct a face
with the right x-height and visual characteristics. I wanted to use
Sabon for my current book, and as I recall I found that installing a
sans-serif font that matches nicely Sabon wasn't easy. Also you might
generally find that some symbols look a bit "spidery" when combined
with Sabon.
Sabon is such a beautiful font it would indeed be great if someone did
the work to make a LaTeX package which makes every working and looking
good. But it might be a bit more work than you imply. :-(
