Under debian stable, I upgraded texlive, but I don't find the tlmgr
package manager command.
Synaptic shows me only version 2007.dfsg.2-1~lenny2, but I also see:

% apt-cache show texlive |grep Version
Version: 2009-7
Version: 2007.dfsg.2-1~lenny2

What's wrong? I assume I need to have 2009-7 installed, but don't know
how to get it.

Linux distributions never include tlmgr because they don't want to ship
two package managers. If you want tlmgr, you must install TeX Live from
the TUG site.
