Hi,
\rangle and \langle
These give inequality signs. Examine the result of the following LaTeX
code:
\[ <v> = 2 \]
Note how the space between "v" and ">" is larger than that between ">"
and "=".
That is because TeX sees two math relations together and treats that as
a single relation. Compare that with
\[ \langle v\rangle = 2 \]
where TeX treats the angle brackets as matched delimiters (as it
should). Use "<" and ">" only for inequalities.
I've seen this far too often among even experienced mathematicians. It
really belongs in l2tabu.
