I'm new to installing fonts and I think I'm too inexperienced to figure out
how to do it right...
I'm using MikTeX 1.11 and I got mathrsfs.sty and the rsfs font package off
CTAN. After putting the .mf files and the mathrsfs.sty file into the right
path, I run something like:
\documentclass{article}
\usepackage{mathrsfs}
\begin{document}
\[ \mathscr{ABC} \]
\end{document}
and I got:
LaTeX Font Warning: Font shape `U/rsfs/m/n' undefined
(Font) using `U/cmr/m/n' instead on input line 0.
I suppose I need to run some command to somehow install the fonts. Can
someone kindly help me?
Thank you in advance.

this means you didn't install ursfs.fd; you would have done that if
you'd read macros/latex/contrib/supported/jknappen/mathrsfs.rme
(in the same directory as mathrsfs.sty).
this will at least get you to the point of _trying_ to use the fonts.
what will happen then i can't say, since i've never even been in a
position to try miktex...
