I'm searching for some nice fonts to replace Computer Modern fonts in
my thesis.
Any suggestion ?
How can I find some postscript sample files ?
P.S.
I need math fonts too.
Thanks

Mathtime Plus (i.e., Times + Matching Math Fonts) and Lucida Bright.
I believe each of these can completely (?!) replace for CM.
Font samples are in PDF files available from www.yandy.com
By the way, they are commercial products.

Presently the choices are:
(1) CM (+AMS maybe)
(2) Lucida Bright + Lucida New Math (+ Lucida Bright Expert maybe)
(3) MathTime + Times-Roman (+ MathPllus maybe)
(4) Adobe Lucida + Adobe Lucida Math (a bit heavy, hard to use)
Downloadable sample Acobrat PDF files may be found on http://www.YandY.com

With pslatex, you get Type 1 text fonts with CM math symbols.
In my _opinion_, such combination of Type 1 fonts (e.g., Times, Century,
Palatino, Garamond, or others) with CM math symbols is not looking very
good.
Those Type 1 fonts are much thicker than CM math symbol fonts ...
Mathptm seems a bit better than pslatex. It uses Type 1 fonts
as much as possible. For instance, for math italic, Type 1 italic fonts
are used. However, still some CM math symbols are used, because
they are available in ordinary Type 1 text fonts and the Symbol font.

If you need math fonts too, then your choice is rather limited. I believe
there are no other complete free fonts than the CM-family distributed with
standard TeX. On CTAN, there are also the Concrete (Beton) fonts, but I have
not tried them and I don't know if they're complete. If you can afford
commercial fonts (of very good quality), then you should take a look at
http://www.yandy.com/ they sell math fonts for Times Roman (called MathTime)
and a whole complete Lucida family. They have samples available on their web
pages.

The LucidaBright+Lucida New Math+LucidaBright Expert fonts sold by Y &
Y are a really nice alternative to CM. I did an entire textbook using
them, and the results were very pleasing.
(Originally I was going to use Times together with MathTime, but that
also required some Adobe Mathematica Pi. Moreover, both I and my
editor thought that the pages looked too crowded and hard to read with
the Times font for text.)
Employing the LucidaBright family with LaTeX2e is now quite straightforward.

None of the other responses in this thread has mentioned using
concrete and euler. I know some find them ... undesirable ... but if
you like the look of Graham, Knuth and Patashnik's book
_Concrete_Mathematics_, the result is very nice.
Assuming LaTeX2e, \usepackage{beton} \usepackage{euler} does the
trick. (There are also notes in the documentation about suggestions
for headers and the like. Follow these suggestions for a very nice
look.)

May be you want to have a look at the ec fonts (the successor of dc) from
ctan. The fonts have been redesigned and follow the Cork encoding scheme
(i.e. support non-english texts better than cm)
