Hello,
so far I am quite happy with using amsrefs.
Now I encountered difficulties with referencing multiple works by one
author:
For example, compiling

\documentclass{article}
\usepackage{amsrefs}

\begin{document}
\begin{bibdiv}
\begin{biblist}
\bib{Launder72}{article}{
author={Launder, B. E.},
title={Title},
journal={Journal},
date={1972},
}
\bib{Launder74}{book}{
author={Launder, B. E.},
title={A Book},
date={1974},
}
\end{biblist}
\end{bibdiv}
\end{document}

produces:

[2] ______, A Book, 1974.

I cannot imagine that this was intended, if it was, however, I would
really like to change it.
If anyone could tell me how to print the author's name twice instead
of replacing it with the line I would be very pleased. Thanks in
advance!

Regards, David

it really was intended; this is the default behavior for some
publishers,
including the ams, where this package originated.

however, the option "nobysame" will do exactly what you want.
it's described on p.18 of the amsrefs manual.

It really is intended. Amsrefs follows (by default) the
style of the AMS journals, which typically do not repeat
the author's name, but rather substitute a line. It is
common in math journals, and I find it actually
considerably less annoying than referencces and
citation methods common in other fields.

It can be changed, because amsrefs was designed to
be configurable and most style choices can be redefined.
One has to read the amsrefs documentation (amsrdoc.pdf
on my system). In this case there is in fact a package
option to do exactly this, found on page 18:

nobysame: If two or more consecutive bibliography
items have the same authors, amsrefs will
normally replace the author names in the second
and succeeding entries by a horizontal rule (____).
This option disables this feature, causing the
full author names to always be printed."

More customization is possible with various \Define...
and \Declare... commands and the \BibSpec command,
all documented in amsrefs.pdf.

Oh, I must have overlooked that option. Great, thanks a lot!
