Hello,
I wonder if it is possible to use Humanist521BT in latex. I am using
Ubuntu.

Yes. But you'll have to create the necessary support files (and if your
fonts are in TrueType format, you'll have to convert them to Type1 format).

To create the support files, get the fontinstallationguide.pdf at CTAN.

To convert the format, I'd suggest fontforge, which should be available
for Ubuntu. Or purchase Type1 ("Windows Postscript") versions:

you could also stay in pdflatex and use truetype directly (you still
need to create some support files, but no need to convert the font into
Type 1)

You can try my installfont script. It does exactly what is described in
'Tutorial I The Basics' in fontinstallationguide.pdf. Yesterday, i
uploaded the new version v1.5 to CTAN. It should be available soon.

The script should be able to convert the font, if you install ttf2pt1 or
the lcdf-typetools for otf fonts.

In the end the installation is nothing more than e.g.:

installfont -f 6na -n 'Softmaker Nashville' -c FFNashville -P SMFF@Sna
-p nashville -m nashville -O -d 2010/09/14 -v v1.0 -l
/cygdrive/d/LocalTeXMF -s MyFonts/Nashville

For ubuntu you have to use the TeXLive variant installfont-tl.

Or you could use xelatex or luatex to convert the document.
