Hi everyone.

Does anybody know how to produce a Japanese yen symbol
eg the Y with the two dashes through it?

Thanks alot in advance...(I'm sorta new to fancy stuff
in LaTeX..)

Cheers, Colin.

Do it with METAFONT. You'll be happier with that.

Ciao,

Problem is that you have to make it for all fonts you need.
An easier solution widely used here in Japan is:

% \yen : yen mark (taken from ascmac.sty for jlatex)
\def\yen{{\setbox0=\hbox{Y}Y\kern-.97\wd0\vbox{\hrule height.1ex
width.98\wd0\kern.33ex\hrule height.1ex width.98\wd0\kern.45ex}}}

It produces (at least) something that looks like a Yen symbol in the
current font.
