I am getting the warning:

Package wrapfig Warning: wrapfigure used inside a conflicting environment on input line 1599. I get the figure inserted at the end of my document (just before the bibliography and index).

My research suggests that I am probably using wrapfigure inside a list-like environment, which is not permitted. My files are huge, with hundreds of lists. I can not find any that I did not end properly.

Is there a "global" command that I can insert just upstream of my failing wrapfigure that will close all lists open at that point? (Note that I use a lot of wrapfigures in the document, but am getting failures in the last 200 pages.)

i note that you don't show us any of the code around line 1599.

this of course makes debugging extremely difficult. (though, if it
weren't so close to bed time i might try wrapping something inside a
float.

those symptoms would suggest you've wrapped a figure inside a float, and
that float didn't get placed at all, until the very end.

sure, there are difficulties betweem wrapfig and lists, but i don't
think any would result in a figure floating to the end.

none actually published, that i know of. i can guess where one might
start to look to write such a thing, but frankly i wouldn't try.

A list environment is the usual, but there can be others. The conflict
is if \par has been redefined or if \parshape is set. You might know of
something in your document that sets these deliberately, or you can
query them to get some idea of what caused the settings (\show\par,
\showthe\parshape).
