In plain TeX there is a \bordermatrix macro
which allows one to label the rows and columns of a matrix.
I wonder if there is any LaTeX style implementing something similar?

A bordered matrix would look something like this:

1 2
1 | x 0 |
2 | 0 y |

From article <1992Oct29.0...@maths.tcd.ie>, by t...@maths.tcd.ie (Timothy Murphy):

\bordermatrix is defined in LaTeX and works correctly in
\[...\] and $...$ math environments, but in the equationarray
environment, the delimiters seem to be too high. This can be
avoided by writing \mbox{$\bordermatrix ... $}.
