Hello,

I'd like to truncate a pdf-file by using pdfcrop.

Writing "pdfcrop filename.pdf" at the prompt results in "!!! Error:
Cannot move `tmp-pdfcrop-###.pdf´ to `filename-crop.pdf´!"

Any ideas why this may happen?

It is no problem to truncate the pdf-file with Adobe Acrobat 8
Professional or PDF-XChange 4 Pro.

[Ghostscript 8.60]
[PDFCROP 1.5 2004/06/24 Patch 0.4]
(I use this version because a newer one leads to "'-' is not recognized
as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.")

Thanks in advance!

Karl

What is "Patch 0.4"?

In later versions I have fixed a bug, for instance:
2008/01/09 v1.8: Fix for moving the temporary file to the
output file across file system boundaries.
Or the temporary file isn't generated, because the ghostscript run
failed. See output of option --verbose and --debug.

See the other thread.

I don't know. But here is the whole output:

PDFCROP 1.5, 2004/06/24 - Copyright (c) 2002, 2004 by Heiko Oberdiek.
Patch 0.4, 2007/02/18 - Copyright (c) 2007 by Piotr Adacha.
!!! Error: Cannot move `tmp-pdfcrop-2736.pdf' to `filename-crop.pdf´!

Quotation of the log-file:

This is pdfTeX, Version 3.1415926-1.40.8-beta-20080627 (MiKTeX 2.7)
(preloaded format=pdftex 2008.7.14) 22 JUL 2008 10:45
entering extended mode
**tmp-pdfcrop-2260
(tmp-pdfcrop-2260.tex )
No pages of output.
PDF statistics:
0 PDF objects out of 1000 (max. 8388607)
0 named destinations out of 1000 (max. 131072)
1 words of extra memory for PDF output out of 10000 (max. 10000000)

Perhaps a problem of pdfTeX?

No, ghostscript is the problem, try another version of ghostscript.

I followed the thread "A problem about oberdiek's pdfcrop.pl" and I'm
glad that v1.13 is working now. Many thanks to Heiko.
