How to handle the epigraph at the beginning of a *book*?

epigraph right at the beginning of the book. That is, not before a chapter
heading like the epigraph class seems to handle, but an epigraph on its
own page before the bulk of the work even starts. What's the best way to
handle this?

Here follows what I used. hlcn/m/it is a commercial font of the
Lucida family, replace with a font you like (or remove, to use CM).
