I have played around a bit with LaTeX and PSTricks and now created my
first package. It enables you to insert playing card symbols or cards
into your documents, either inline or in floating environments. The
cards are available through shortcuts and can be customized via
various options. Documentation and example files are included in the
package. Please read them and the README file before using the latex
poker package.
I hope it works for you as smoothly as for me.
If anyone has the skills and interest to transform this poker package
into the .dtx/.ins format I would be very pleased.
Since the original author of the face card images (K,Q,J) preferred to
keep them LGPL licensed and I did not like the idea of split licensing
the package, for now I decided to license the package completely under
the LGPL.
I'd be happy to get some feedback on it.
Have fun with my latex poker package.

It's tedious but not hard to convert a packge to .dtx/.ins format.
Read "How to Package Your LaTeX Package", which may already exist on
your system as dtxtut.pdf. If not, you can download the file from
CTAN (http://www.ctan.org/).

The dtx/ins schema is not required. In fact, I never use
it (except for spanish for babel, as the latter requires
it).

dtx (properly written) avoids the requirement to write a separate
documentation file. documentation _is_ required for ctan, nowadays,
and with a dtx it's just a matter of turning the handle.
