I just downloaded and installed MiKTeX 2.8 with TexWorks 0.1
and have an immediate question.

From the Edit > Preferences > Typesetting tab, I tried to add
("+") the path ("Choose") to my local tex input files
(customized style files, etc.) but it isn't working. The newly
specified directory (C:/LocalTexFiles) is now in the list of
"Paths for TeX and related programs" but I still get "File Not
Found" errors when I try to process with TeXworks.

Using TeXniCenter coupled to my previous MiKTeX 2.6 installation,
my source files still process OK: TeXniCenter finds the same
local files OK.

Getting "Path" to work is most important.

Less important: is there a way to select a different previewer,
e.g., Adobe Acrobat?

THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

add it to miktex, not TeXWorks. TeXWorks is an editor it just calls
latex it does not configure where LaTeX looks for files.

The setting "Paths for TeX and related programs" in TeXWorks refers to
where TeXWorks looks for latex and other related programs

You need to add an extra root in the miktex settings.

Also, I would recommend you to stay with the previewer in TeXWorks, as
it supports jumping back to the relevant lines in the source, and it
also does not lock the PDF file and it says on the page you are looking
at (instead of you having to start at page 1 all the time)

Yes!! Thank you! Now it (MiKTeX 2.8) works.

Thanks. I'll stick with the that one. Those are features I
used to like a lot when I used OzTex and Alpha 7 (Mac OS 9).
