hi, i'm getting errors that look like this:
! LaTeX Error: Something's wrong--perhaps a missing \item.

See the LaTeX manual or LaTeX Companion for explanation.
Type H <return> for immediate help.
...

l.31 ... {chapter}{\numberline {6}Actualit\'e}{11}

?

at the question mark, i can type something
i had \chapter{Actualités} as the sixth chapter, as he seems to have noticed, i
don't think i've done everything wrong in my text. I think the error occurs
where in \tableofcontents
does anyone have any ideas what this error could mean
thx

I tried your file, and as you say, ignoring the error messages
produces a good result... I have already experienced similar
`problems' when using babel (with pdflatex, for example), but I don't
know exactly what the problem is...

I experienced he same kind of problem a while ago using pdfscreen.
Deleting the .toc file everytime the table of contents should change solved my problem.

I recreated the toc by running LaTeX 2 times on the input document. I
actually "recreated" it every time. Not a very effective way, but it
worked.
