I'm using latex (KLyx) and I'm wondering how I can indent all paragraphs
that are using the \raggedright "environment". I'm new to latex, and barely
used to tex, so I do not know all of these new macros, and cannot even
program one too well yet. :)
I seem to be able to do it by adding a "\( \quad\ )\( \: )\( \: )" to the
beginning of each paragraph, but that is getting tiresome. :)
Actually, I just need it to do the standards for the MLA research paper
<http://www.mla.org>, so if anyone knows (or has created) an MLA macro
package, then let me know about it. :) (I'm still interested in how to
create the macro for the above though...).

\begin{raggedright}\setlength{\parindent}{20pt} % or whatever you want.

\usepackage{ragged2e}
\setlength{\RaggedRightParindent}{1em}
\RaggedRight
raggedright isn't an environment; you should use flushleft (or FlushLeft with
ragged2e).

If addiction is judged by how long a dumb animal will sit pressing a
lever to get a 'fix' of something, to its own detriment, then I would
conclude that netnews is far more addictive than cocaine.

Why is the \raggedright command not replaced? Defining
a separate \RaggedRight goes against the point of having
packages control the layout *for the same document*.
(Of course, \raggedright (amd minipage) should not touch the
parindent, but that won't change.)
>raggedright isn't an environment; you should use flushleft
Any command can be used as an environment. \begin{flushleft}
adds spacing that is probably not desired.

ragged2e is compatible to its predecessor raggedright.sty (which defined
only \RaggedRight) as a default.
But it has the option NewCommands which does just what you suggest.

Using commands as environments can cause severe problems.
E.g. what happens when you omit the \par after \end{raggedright}? :->

It is proof of a base and low mind for one to wish to think with the
masses or majority, merely because the majority is the majority. Truth
does not change because it is, or is not, believed by a majority of the
people. (Giordano Bruno)
Thanks Martin and Piet. It is working fine now.
All I use is this (in the preamble):
\raggedright
\setlength{\parindent}{1 em}
(and a few other things to fix up MLA format)...
