I've just installed the cm-super fonts on Windows/MikTeX. The install
instructions include:

7) You can install the CM-Super fonts as regular Windows fonts, if you
wish to use them in non-TeX applications (e.g. packages for
preparation of graphics which are to be included into your TeX
documents, or even word processors, etc.)

You will need Adobe Type Manager (either a regular version, or the
Lite version, which is available for free from the Adobe web site).

To do this, you will need to uncompress the AFM files provided with
this distribution (e.g. using WinZip).

Place all corresponding PFB, AFM, and INF files which you need to
install into the same directory, and feed it to ATM.

I'd like to do this, but the cm-super directory on CTAN doesn't
include any INF files, and browsing to a folder with the AFMs and PFBs
in ATM (deluxe v4.00) doesn't come up with a list of fonts. Any ideas?

Ultimately what I want is to be able to typeset formulas in TeX, use
dvips to get EPS using the cm-super fonts, which will then mean I can
use these to label figures created in Illustrator. Tell me if this is a
pipedream - or if there's an easier way!

Best,
Mark

that's what vladimir (the guy who's responsible for the cm-super
fonts) anwered on an email a couple of weeks ago (hopefully i don't
break any copyright law in posting his words in this group):

you're not doing anything wrong -- it's me who did not yet include the
INF files into cm-super package.

i'll include them some time later (not sooner than in july, because
i'll not have time to work on cm-super next month)

you can also create INF files by yourself, taking some INF files from
other fonts and editing them (they are small text files with obvious
fields, so that should not be hard)

Best,
v.
