I've followed the instructions for installing lp.exe so that I can print
from within LyX in Windows, but it's not working. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Also, I'd like to move my 300-page book from Open Office to LyX - I'd be
grateful for advice on the best intermediary format: plain text, RTF,
etc.? Perhaps I should TeX-code bold/italics first, then reformat
everything in LyX?

Thanks much.

I saw that lp.exe recently on the LyX Wiki. I usually use View->
dvi, ps, or pdf and print from there. LyX can import text or
.tex and there is a OOo program Writer2Latex. Also there is
http://wiki.lyx.org/Tools/LyX2OpenOffice (.sxw) {equations?}
Also Word2Tex; export from OOo to Word (.doc), see how it
looks, convert to .tex, and import .tex into LyX.

I've also done well with htlatex, export .tex from Lyx,
convert to html, import into Word or OOo, the other way.

searchable LyX User mailing list archives. Or post to

news.gmane.org also carries gmane.editors.lyx.general

Using plain text is not reasonable. Do you know this?
http://www.hj-gym.dk/~hj/writer2latex/
RTF as an intermediary format is also a sensible way.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/rtf2latex2e/
or
http://www.penguin.cz/~fojtik/wp2latex/rtf2latex.htm
(or commercial Word2TeX) will convert RTF to LaTeX. Then you will need
good luck to import LaTeX into LyX :)

Boundless thanks - I'm sooo grateful when I'm able to get help with an
open-source app...
