Hello:

I would like to include bitmap pictures (.bmp) in my LaTex document.
How to do this? I have been trying to use the following command:

\special{bmp:<path/filename>}

But, this command is not working. Can anyone help?

Thanks,
Regards,
Dev

Hi.

I am using PCTeX32 v3.4 and the way to include bitmap pictures there is to
include

\input{setbmp}

in the preamble, and

\begin{figure}[hbt]
\centerbmp{width}{height}{file.bmp}
\caption{Text}
\label{label}
\end{figure}

The the picture file.bmp is centered on the page with dimentions x=width
and y=height. If file.bmp is not stored in the same directory as your
tex-file, you have to specify the path.

I hope this will help you, but I do not know if this will work in other
LATEX versions than the one I am using.

Depends on the TeX System you are using. Not all support BMP.
In Y&Y TeX say \special{insertimage: foo.bmp} just as for TIFF images.

Otherwise convert to EPS format. Most TeX Systems support that
when printing to a PS device.

The DviWin driver (for Windows) can read BMP files

Nice.

Alternatively, you could use bm2font (from CTAN) which can turn bitmap
images into pk files which any TeX system can use.

Rowland.
