l.46 \chapter{Einleitung}
---snip---
The corresponding section in my document:
\titleformat{\chapter}
{\huge\sffamily\bfseries\textcolor{grau_dunkel}}
{\thechapter}{6.1ex}{}
\titlespacing{\chapter}{-15ex}{3.5ex plus .1ex minus .2ex}{1.5ex minus .1ex}
\chapter{Introduction}
\thispagestyle{empty}
can't get a hint out of the titlesec-documentation. Anybody knows what this
error could mean? If I compile with 'latex document.tex' I don't get any
error messages...
Sent a complete (and real) minimal document that demonstrates your
problem and the error message that belongs to this example. (Your error
message mentions "\chapter{Einleitung}" but your example use
\chapter{Introduction}.)

I presume you mean \color. Read the graphics documentation.

i wasn't surprised by that. does titlesec not preserve the latex rule
that the last thing in the "format" argument may take an argument?
which is not to say it's easy to guess what's going wrong here. as
ulrike said, a _real_ example would help.

Yes, of course, but not here. This argument is reserved for the
global format to be applied to the whole sectioning title, including
the number. In a later argument (ie, that formatting the title itself)
you can do that. Read the titlesec manual :-).

A real minimal example is essential, indeed.
