I am running WinEdt 5.5 and a few months ago the macro attached to the
pdf viewer tab (and fully pdfify tab) opened the Adobe reader but also
generated a new page within WinEdt with the Windows like warning:
Cannot open DDE link to
"C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 10.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe"
Service: acroview
Topic: control

DDEOpen('%$("AcroRead")',"acroview","contol",0);

Any suggestions on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated. I
look on WinEdt.org and WinEdt.com but .com seems to fix it with an
paid upgrade to v6

I found something that works for me. Change line 106 of file "Acrobat
Opendocs.edt" from:
"DDEOpen('%$("AcroRead")',"acroview","control",0);"
to
"DDEOpen('%$("AcroRead")',"acroviewR10","control",0);

(My suggestion is to comment out original using "//" and put in new
line just below commented out original).
DDEExe('[FileOpen("%P\%N.pdf")]');"

In fact, my solution was to change three things. First Action: Changing the file AcrobatClosedoc line 36 by DDEOpen ('%$(" acroviewR10 ")'," acroread "," control ", 0);
Second Action: Changing the file
AcrobatOpendoc line 106 by
DDEOpen ('%$(" acroviewR10 ")'," acroread "," control ", 0);
Third action: Go to options -> Executions modes -> acrobat. Change:
"C: \ Program Files (x86) \ Adobe \ Reader 10.0 \ Reader \ AcroRd32.exe"
and
"C: \ Program Files (x86) \ Adobe \ Acrobat.com \ bin-debug"
That is all.

I'm on 5.6 (I tried v6 quickly but it's completely different to
configure, and i spent half of my life time to configure the 5.6
already...)

I don't know what version of Acrobat you use.

But i can say that DDE on acrobat never worked for me: nor for closing
the pdf file neither for reopen it at the same page after compilation.

I finally wrote some small scripts using AutoItX
http://www.autoitscript.com/site/autoit/
a powerfull complete (and free) automation library. And this is
satisfying.

The programming language of WinEdt, dispite it's syntax (but automatic
completion helps much) is very powerful -- and much less buggy than
Excel VBA !

"DDEOpen('%$("AcroRead")',"acroview","control",0);"
To
"DDEOpen('%$("AcroRead")',"acroviewR11","control",0);"
