sort by year bib with "submitted"

Hi,

I have a bst file that sorts the entries in my bibliography by year
starting with the newest one, but some of my references do not have a
year, but something like "year = {submitted}" or "year={to appear}".
At the moment these appear at the end of the bibliography but i would
like them to be at the top. Any ideas how that would be possible?
I could place the "submitted", ... in "note ={}" too. Maybe there is
some special character i could place in "year" to make this happen?
