I need to draw a flat line next to a text item in the heading of a
document, i.e. something like
Date: ____________
where the length of the line is variable, say 1". I can't get LaTeX
to do this. \hlinefill will draw the line across the page, which I
don't want.
All and any help will be *greatly* appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Tom

(use-package 'std-disclaimer)
Use a \rule{wid}{ht}. Generally, a \rule{wid}{.3mm} generates a usable
(visually acceptable) line thickness. For a rule of 1in, use
\rule{1in}{.3mm}. There is also an optional offset; see to p. 195 of Lamport.
