Does anyone know of any software which will take a landscape 2-up pdf
page, (that is, the single page viewable on screen contains say pages 15
and 16 of the original material) and allow you to split it into two
single pages? Ideally graphically (since the split doesn't come at
exactly the same place on each page) and preferably free.

Thanks!

I don't know a free tool to do this. I would do it with Adobe Acrobat: copy the
pages and use Acrobat's crop tool to define the page sections to be displayed.
Here is tool (not free, trial version available) that seems to be meant for the
task you wanted to do: http://www.a-pdf.com/page-cut/index.htm

Greetings

Not graphically, but useable:
Duplicate the page,
crop one page at the left side and the other at the right side.
The tools available for this depend on the operating system.
For MS Windows, e.g. the free tools at
http://www.pdfill.com
or
http://www.noliturbare.com/ (search and extract, cropper)
