Hi there

I need a way to batch processing convert a large amount of
PDFs into equivalent Postscript files.
Printing in Adobe Acrobat Reader on a Postscript Printer
is not suitable.

Designated platform is Windows.

Any hints ?

Currently I am using ghostscript,
but there are several problems with this solution.

so I need another program than ghostscript.

My free Xpdf package includes a command-line tool called pdftops.
Source and executables (including Windows) are available:

One solution would be to use pdfOutputPro and pdfToolBox from www.callas.de.

There is a tool in pdfToolBox called BatchProcessPro that automates the
printing of PDF files in a hot folder environment. You will need a full
version of Adobe Acrobat to use these tools. When configured, you just drop
your PDF files into a Watched Folder and the PS files will be created and
placed in another folder. Evaluation programs are available for download.

I can vouch for pdfOutputPro which we have used for a couple of years and
have trialed BatchProcessPro which seems to work well.

The postsript generated by pdfOutputPro is robust and will print happily on
any postscript printer. It can even be redistilled to a PDF file to
"normalise" the pdf which we have done in some circumstances to print files
from Acrobat that won't print due to some problem or another. Among other
things, this process eliminates truetype fonts by converting them to
postscript fonts.

You should be able to batch automate Adobe Acrobat - not the free
Reader to do just that.

Note that pdfOutputPro will create postscript files on disk as well as send
output to a printer
