I've been trying to convert a large image (11x16in; 6200x3200 px in size, at
a resolution of 72x72 dpi, RGB, True Color, 24-bit) from GIMP's native
XCF format into a PDF file. GIMP only offers PostScript, which outputs
fine (i.e. re-opening this PostScript file in GIMP shows it's all
there).
However, converting this image to PDF using either OS X Panther's
built-in pstopdf command, or the online ps2pdf service at
www.ps2pdf.com (which uses Ghostscript I believe), results in an image
cropped to 8.5inx11in.
Can someone tell me how to convert the PostScript file into a
full-sized PDF file? Or tell me why I can't?
Thanks.

Use ghostscript with additional parameters: -g6200x3200 -r72x72
or use epstopdf which does it automatically (it's a perl script that uses
ghostscipt).
Try using the conversion tools at www.freeonlineapps.com instead.
There is an image converter that would convert jpeg to pdf. If you
wanted to convert from postscript, the ps2pdf tool at
www.freeonlineapps.com allows you to select page size--so you wouldn't
get cropped to 8.5x11.
The site you recommend has a 11x17in letter size which is ideal, but
I've just tried using the service a total of three times, with both
Safari and Camino (spoofing IE6), to no result. The page returns the
text, "Conversion results are below:", but there's /nothing/ below. I
tried removing spaces from the filename as well but no change. Any
thoughts?
As for epstopdf: I don't actually have Ghostscript installed, I used an
online service. However, it looks like I should investigate it for my
platform...
