I tried creating a new MIME type with extension ".pdfp", and configuring
IE to run "acroread /p" on it... which comes close, but it is still
interactive. It displays the PDF file in a window as usual, and the
"/p" just makes the Print dialog pop up automatically. In other words,
I don't want any windows but "/p" gives me two.
Here's my situation. I have this Linux box on a mostly-Microsoft LAN.
The Linux box runs proprietary software which, among other things,
builds reports. It supports an intranet which allows users to generate
reports in HTML format for viewing, or PDF format for printing. (I need
PDF because HTML has no way to force page breaks.) The PDF version is
*ONLY* used for printing, and that's why I'd like to make printing PDF
as simple as possible for the user. A single click on a web link would
be ideal -- that would allow me to embed a [Print] button in the HTML
version of the report.
