I'm currently using FM4 on a Sun. My document contains a number of figures
and tables which I have X-refed all over the place. I'll give you one
specific example of what happens, to demonstrate the problem.
I go to the Xref menu, choose Table I, and press insert - "Table I" in
correctly inserted into the text. If I highlight the "Table I" ref in the
text, then go into the Xref menu again, what is highlighted is "Table IV" and
not "Table I" as should be the case. If I run "Update", "Table I" in the
text is transformed to "Table IV" for some reason. There's just no way to
keep it pointing to Table I. This seems to be happening to some of my
references only (whether figures, tables, ...), but not all.
Has anyone encountered this problem? And any idea how to resolve it?
Thank you in advance.
Mark

Looks like a problem we had several times in our company. If you refer to a
paragraph (e.g. Table I), FrameMaker inserts a marker with type 'Cross
reference' in that paragraph. This marker contains a unique number which the
Xref points at. If you COPY that paragraph Table I, the marker inside is also
copied, and - thats the problem - the unique number, too. Now the 'unique'
number is no longer unique, and FrameMaker does not know where to refer to.
Sounds a bit complicating, but I hope, this helps.
