PDF creation using FrameMaker 5.1.2 and 5.5??

Hi Framers,

I know there's been a lot of PDF querying lately and I've had a look through
past postings but I've not been able to find an answer for the particular
problem I've been experiencing - I'm really hoping that someone out there can
help me.

Using Version 5.1.2 I created a postscript file of my document using an Apple
810 driver. I then distilled the postscript file and the resulting PDF is
fine (albeit a tad blurry (a whole other ballgame!), but it prints OK).

I then repeat the *exact same* process using 5.5 and the resulting PDF has
lost the bottom of each "page" (meaning the loss of the footer and last line
of text on the page).

Does anyone know what's going on? Unfortunately I don't have the luxury of
access to a postcript printer so I can't even check if the .ps file prints out
OK (which I know won't but I'd like to be able to check just to satisfy
myself!).

I really would appreciate any pointers on this problem, if only to ease my
frustration on an otherwise pleasant and sunny afternoon in the UK!

May be you want to have a look at the ps file by using Ghostscript?
You mentioned an Apple 810 driver, so you may be using a Mac?
Then you could download e.g. MacGS 5.01 from Aladdin's.

You may be caought in a battel between Adobe and HP. If you are using an HP
printer with a PCL driver, Adobe may not be supporting it accurately in Frame
5.5. HP no longer uses "True Postscript", but uses an emmulation from some
other vendor so I suspect thet Adobe no longer supports PCL with Adobe
Acrobat, the PDF program. I have tried to print PDF files with PCL and it
never comes out right but by using the PostScript on my HP4M, it comes out
fine.
