I have never, ever heard of that. In fact, I would bet that it's either human
error or there are two markers side by side (and which looks like one) and
you're selecting the wrong one. (Use the keyboard instead of the mouse.)
I think that my problem definition was insufficiently crisp. Let me try
again. I create an index entry and click New Marker.
Later, when I move to a new location and start to enter the text for
another Index marker, I notice (hopefully right away) that the item
selected in the drop-down list in the Marker window is no longer Index.
Instead it is Cross-Ref. Of course, if I fail to notice this change, I
create a marker of an inappropriate type. As I mentioned before, I have
not been able to figure out what might be causing the switch. I
certainly did not touch the drop-down list during the creation of the
first Index marker. Thoughts?
