I have a Xerox 1186 that was used for AI/LISP programming and that is
just about all that I know about it. I would very much appreciate a
little history on this machine, if anybody has the time to share.
I also have a large software library that went along with this
machine, but I don't seem to be able to get it to boot properly, it
seems like the hard drive might be dead, or at least dying. Any help
her would be appreciated as well.

Click on the mesa processor link, follow that to the MP codes, and
see if there are any MP codes useful to you there.
It would help to know the symptoms in greater detail.
