Before one can install the new MCP kit one has to remove obsolete version.
The documentation tells me to do this:

Navigate to the Installation folder (where you unzipped the installation package). and double-click MIM.exe to launch the Master Installation Manager (MIM).
Note: You can also launch MIM from the Unisys Documentation shortcut on the desktop.

On the ClearPath MCP Software Series Installer, click Uninstall.

Running MIM only lets me install the new kit and the logfile clearly logs that the previous kit wasn't installed.
The second instruction "On the ClearPath MCP Software Series Installer, click Uninstall"I just don't get. There is nothing to do on the first mim screen other than selecting the two directories (for diagnostics and to store DK).

What am I missing?? I've done this twice without a problem and suddenly it is beyond me, old age.....

PS
I no longer have previous year’s installation kit, nor its mim image

Hans -- I'm confused. Did you previously uninstall MCP Express with ITS
version of MIM, or are you trying to do that with the new (4.0) version
of MIM? It almost sounds like you previously uninstalled the old version
and now MIM is ready to install the new one.

Hello Paul
The problem was that I had deleted last year’s distribution kit and the directory that held the old mim.exe.
The new mim.exe cannot continue because it encounters an older version.
The work around (thank you MCP Express team) is to delete the Unisys directory structure in Program Files and the Unisy keys in HKLM in the registry.
That done , this year’s mim ran succesfully.
So I’m good now.
I should have read the FAQ (and known that it existed).
