I very vaguely remember hearing of ASAP, but know nothing about it.
A quick Google search shows a Kovacs Software at 16 Hilanoa Drive,
Metropolis, Illinois 62960-2524 US, telephone
+1-618-524-1003. The
president is listed as Kenneth F. Kovacs. No idea if this is the same
company, or even if the one listed is still viable, but it may be worth
trying to contact them.
It *might* be possible to decompile the object code into something that
could be worked with, assuming the package was written in Algol (which
at least some of it probably was, if it's doing GETSTATUS calls), but it
wouldn't be easy, and the result would probably not be very maintainable.
While decompiling that package would be an interesting exercise, it
might be cheaper and a lot less trouble to extract the scheduling data
from that old program while you can and convert to a currently-supported
scheduling system, such as B&L's BL/SCHED or SMA OpCon. It's possible
these vendors know something about ASAP and may have experience
converting to their product from it.
If your customer really wants to continue using ASAP, then I would be
interested in continuing the conversation. I can promise adventure, but
no guarantee of success.
