I am the main designer for IMS 1100 and just curious if the product is still being used.

Are you talking about the old "database" system IMS-8/FMS-8 or the
product to help users convert from the 9000 series? Or is there some
other product with a similar name?

IMS 1100-The Information Management System 1100 is an interactive transaction processing system with integrated file management facilities. It allows
creation of action programs for an on-line transaction processing environment with minimal programming effort. Files referenced by action programs can be conventional, already existing files or DMS 1100 data base files.
The UNIQUE facility provides an Inquiry/ Update capability for general file processing. With UNIQUE, users have access to files without the need for programming their request. The UNIQUE language is a powerful set of English commands designed for ease-of-use, offering the terminal user the ability to display and update his files and produce exception or ad hoc reports at a moment's notice.

I had heard of it in the past but have never been exposed to it.

Well, based on the above, the fact that it is described in the Attached
Virtual Processor brochure, I think it is the based on the 9000 series
product and was marketed primarily as a conversion aid for those
customers converting from the 9000 to the 1100 series. (That was what
the Attached Virtual Processor was for).

I don't think it was very popular, but based on Steve Ottis's post,
there is still at least one user.

The ims1100 product was an implementation of ims90 running on os/3 and vs/9. It is a high speed transaction processing and database system that allowed transaction programs to be written in Cobol, Fortran or assembly language. Ims1100 was designed to make use of existing capabilities in os1100, too and hvtip, too files, iru, pcios , as and iru. Their use was designed in a way that would provides shared file access to could files (indexed, sequential and flat files) 2 years before the shared file system known as ads was made available. Users of Ims90 only had to recompile their programs from the 9000 series and they were ready to run on the 1100, a totally different architecture machine. The ago was not required and in fact the avp was actually engineering releasing the next more powerful vs/9 system to the market including an 1100.

I would love to supply IMS 1100 SUPPORT TO HINDS COUNTY AND MAKE ENHANCEMENTS HAS NEEDED BY HINDS COUNTY.I DID 90% OF THE DESIGN OF IMS 1100 AND CODE ABOUT 90% OF THE FILE MANANGEMERNT AND TIP/HVTIP CODING AND DESIGN. IT'S ALL STILL IN MY HEAD. GIVEN ACCESS TO THE CODE AND A 2200 I WOULD BE ABLE TO FULLY MANAGE AND SUPPORT THE PRODUCT FOR HINDS COUNTY

FYI.IMS1100 was responsible for several hundred of conversions from the 9000 series to the 1100/60 and 1100/70s. There were even a few non conversion implementations. Ims1100 was incredibly fast and provides sub as one response times.

My intact info is: Gary Zelasko, 281-948-6368. I am in the Houston area. I do have the hobbyist version of OS2200 in my laptop. I am fluent in PLUS,MASM, COMMON BANKING, CMS, PCIOS, IRU, MAPPING SYSTEM. ETC.
