Why would this discussion occur on comp.sys.ti.explorer, as opposed to a
lisp group, an emulators group, or comp.sys.ti?

Oh, I forgot. There are also a few tens of real systems that might
appear from what was formerly SwissAir.

To be honest, it's very likely that discussion will mostly occur on
mailing lists. It's mostly off-topic in comp.lang.lisp, IMO.
comp.sys.ti appears to mostly discuss pocket calculators and micros.
I am not aware of any emulator groups, but that might just be because
the emulators I'm interested in aren't very mainstream.
I was mostly trying to be informative. The TI Explorer seems to be an
interesting system, although I have never used one. (Although I have
made an offer to pay shipping for one of the former SwissAir ones, but
haven't heard back.)
