How do you activate the 80 column display when you turn on the
computer? I just get the 32 column screen that the CoCo2 gets. I hve a
disk drive but no software for the CoCo3. Where can you find software?
Can you transfer from a PC?
Thanks...

I'd recommend joining the color computer list
or newsgroup. You can also find many web pages for the coco. -ph

After power up you are in the 32x16 green screen (the classic CoCo text
screen). To change modes to 40x24 and 80x24 type the command WIDTH 40 or
WIDTH 80 and after pressing ENTER you should end up in the hi-res text modes.
Keep in mind though that CoCo 1/2 programs set to run PMODE type graphics
will not work correctly if started in the 40 or 80 chars/line screens - you'd
have to type WIDTH 32 in order to go back to the standard 32x16 screen.
Lots of software for the CoCo can be found in several web sites. Browse
around using keywords like TANDY COLOR COMPUTER COCO TRS80 and the like. Try
http://www.rtsi.com and link there to the OS9 archive... from within the OS9
archive you can move on to the RSDOS section (Disk Basic and Extended Basic
program for the CoCo abound, plus some machine language utilities, games,
etc.).

Yes they can be transfered. You can download the CoCo 2 emulator for Intel
PCs from several web sites in the 'net. The emulator includes several
utilities to do the transfers between real CoCo disks and virtual disks used
in the Intel PC.

Tony,
I don't recall the exact syntax requirements, but you can obtain those
by:
" More information on LISTSERV commands can be found in the
"General
Introduction guide", which you can retrieve by sending an "INFO
GENINTRO"
command to LISTSERV@PUCC."
Hope this helps,
