I became quite familiar with this program for both transfering
cassette software to the ESF and patching things like Scripsit so it
would work with my System 80. I'm glad it hadn't been lost forever.
I've managed to get it on to a virtual esf wafer for use on Matthew
Reed's emulator where it can now live again. I've also got the FMS
(File Management System) and Microsoft Level 3 onto a wafer and also
found a database program I wrote in 1983 for the ESF. I'll make all
these programs and scans of the manuals available on my site soon for
the TRS-80 commulity to enjoy.
The database programs do not work without the ESF Data I/O program
though. I checked out the listing in the programmers manual. It is
in assembly language and I don't know (and can't remember) enough to
tackle it. Also I'm not sure it's complete. Data I/O relocates, but
the listing just seems to be (to my beginner's eyes) the relocated
code at the top of 16k?
Anyway, point is, if anyone out there has a working ESF and any
wafers, could you check for the Data I/O program and image it. It
would be a tragety to lose it. Having the ESF ROM is one thing but a
good part of the functionality of the ESF is in that piece of
software.
