Are you sure it's an AX? That's a weird one, maybe Europe only?

I'm sure someone's computer museum would like it. You could try eBay
also and see what bids you get.

Nope, definitely not continental Europe. And I doubt that UK would be
different. Never heard of it.

I know the 1000 A, SX, EX, HX or TX. But the AX ? A cross between a Tandy
and a Citroën car ? (Europeans will get this)

Don't toss it. Send me a picture of the thing, or anybody that wants to see.
And post the model number, so we can check: it should be 26-xxxx or
something.

If I remember correctly, the 1000 AX was the model marketed by WalMart
during the late 1980s (1988?) when Tandy and WalMart tried selling
Tandy computers in WalMart stores. Searching around this group should
uncover a little information on it, but other than what I've found
here I haven't been able to find anything else.

Absolutely correct, sold only via Walmart. Versions of those machines
(dumbed-down 1000SL and 1000TLs) were also sold by Panasonic that year with
Panasonic-ish model numbers.

Walmart only used Tandy one year, probably hacked-off that Tandy would not
include all the features from the SL/TL models on the AX model. Why it
was an "X" and not a "L" was a mystery at the time, even though the guts
were definitely from the SL/TL model year, with some parts not stuffed.
